What Are The Best Climbing Books Out There?
There are some great climbing books out there at the moment. I’ve been testing out some of them recently and have some recommendations. I love North Wales Rock from Ground Up. This is a climbing guidebook that covers all the North Wales area including the mighty Snowdonia area. The book is really detailed with excellent illustrations, which helps when you’re up a Welsh mountain. In the same area, I could also really recommend Llanberis Pass, The Climber’s Club Guide. This rock climber’s paradise in North Wales is one of the best climbing books I’ve ever read. Also check out the North Devon and Cornwall Climber’s Club book too. If you’re climbing in the west country area this book is absolutely essential and well worth taking with you. Lots of detailed route plans and the photos used to illustrate are great.
Also well worth hunting down is Rock Climbing – Essential Tips and Techniques from UKMTB. This book is known as the rock climbing bible, and for good reason. Really well worth a purchase, especially if you’re a beginner.
